JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A day care agreed to close Wednesday after the Florida Department of Children and Families gave it a cease and desist order after receiving reports that a four-year-old boy was abused by an employee.
When a DCF employee went to investigate Monday at God's Precious Little Miracles, located at 1780 W. 45th Street, they also found that a 2-year-old girl had been sitting in one of the day care's vans for 20 minutes.
The day care was operated by the Church of Miracles, Healing and Prophecy, which makes it a "religious exempt" organization. According to a release from DCF, these agencies do not have to be inspected by DCF, but their employees must be screened by DCF.
DCF found that most of the day care's employees had not been screened for offenses by DCF, so the center's operator was ordered to cease and desist, which it did.
The four-year old boy and his twin sibling were taken home by a day care employee to babysit them and the boy was later found to have several bruises, the release stated.
Both the boy and the girl who was left in the car were taken to hospitals for observation. The parents of each child were contacted by DCF.
