TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A State Representative has filed a bill to amend Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground Law.

Rep. Alan Williams (D-Tallahassee) filed measure HB 4009 Wednesday.

The bill states: "Repeals provisions relating to home protection and use of deadly force, which created presumption of fear of death or great bodily harm in certain circumstances, provided that there is no duty to retreat and has the right to stand one's ground and meet force with force in certain circumstances; conforms provisions."

This bill is in the very early stages of the legislative process.

Florida's Stand Your Ground law is at the center of two controversial shooting cases: the death of Trayvon Martin and the death of Jacksonville's Jordan Davis.

At least 32 other states have similar laws to Stand Your Ground.
