Woman shot and killed in McDonald's parking lot, investigation ongoing

UPDATE, 8/2/13: The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Brenda Williamson, according to JSO Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a suspicious death early Thursday morning.

An unidentified woman was found shot and killed in her work vehicle in the parking lot of the McDonald's in the 7100 Bonneval Road, near U.S. 1 and James Turner Butler Boulevard.

Sgt. Shawn Coarsey with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide unit said the victim is a 49-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police responded to the call at 5:40 a.m. and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Sgt. Coarsey, the victim worked as a security guard, but not at the McDonald's where she was found. The truck the victim was found in had an Allegiance Security Group logo down the side.

An investigation is ongoing and at this point, foul play is suspected. JSO is working with businesses in the area to look at security footage.
