ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A fire that killed a woman in her 80s in southeast Orange County has been ruled a homicide, deputies said.
Officials said they were called by a neighbor to a home on Turnbull Drive near South Semoran Boulevard just north of Orlando International Airport at about 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Fire crews said they searched the home while putting out the fire and found the woman with signs of trauma, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
She was removed from the home, but was pronounced dead.
"They tried to do a rescue and discovered the she was dead. They discovered what appears to be a suspicious fire. The state fire marshal is here to confirm that," said Jane Watrel with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
