JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hundreds of people from across the First Coast and outside the area turned out for Jacksonville's first "Dragon Boat Festival" Saturday morning.
A Jacksonville non-profit agency called "In the Pink" organized the event.
The group helps women living with cancer.
Thirty-five teams took part in the paddle boat race -- raising money for cancer survivors on the First Coast.
Members of "In the Pink" say this year's turnout gives them hope more people will take part next time and take advantage of the St. Johns River.
Race officials say when they raised $40-50,000 for In the Pink.
Based on this year's success, they expect enrollment could double next year.
