UPDATE, 10/21/13: The woman who was fatally shot on Saturday has been identified as 27-year-old Jillian Marie Berrios, according to Orange Park Police Chief Gary Goble.
Goble said the OPPD is working with the Clay County Sheriff's Office in following up on all leads to find the suspect in this case.
ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A woman was shot and killed by an unknown suspect early Saturday morning, according to the Orange Park Police Department.
Chief G.A. Goble said police responded to the shooting around 5:39 a.m. in the 400 block of Loring Avenue.
According to police, two females were approached by a man while sitting in their vehicle when the man started shooting inside the car.
The suspect fled the scene in a newer model red hatchback type vehicle.
Police said one victim, who happened to be the driver, was pronounced dead at Orange Park Medical Center and the passenger is being treated for her injuries.
Clay County Sheriff's Office, Orange Park Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating this homicide.
At this time, the victims have not been identified.
