ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The deployment ceremony will be held for members of the Florida Army National Guard's 107th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment January 10 at 11 a.m.
MPAD will deploy to Guantanamo Bay in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for a nine-month mission. The ceremony will include family, friends, dignitaries and military leaders from the Florida National Guard.
The event will take place at the Mark Lance National Guard Armory located at 190 San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine.
Did you know:
- On 1 May 1960, 107th Public Information Detachment (Field Service) was activated at St. Augustine, Florida under TOE 45-500D dated 4 June 1958.
- The 107th was responsible for "The Wire," a weekly command (internal) newsletter and kept the task force public and internal web sites updated.
- In 2009-2010 the 107th MPAD provided all levels of public affairs support to Joint Task Force (JTF) Guantanamo, which has a primary mission to conduct safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees. During this deployment the unit will be performing a similar mission.
