JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a life threatening crash involving unidentified 19 and 20-year-olds.
The accident happened Thursday in the 2100 block of Monument Road when the driver entered a curve on the road and lost control of his Dodge Neon.
The driver attempted to regain control of the car but ended up rotating in the roadway, jumping a concrete curb and striking a wooden telephone pole. The car ended up in a large nearby ditch.
Police say both the driver and passenger were transported to UF Health. The driver had non-life threatening injuries while the passenger had life threatening injuries.
According to JSO, there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, however, based on the amount of damage and evidence from the scene, speed is a high probability for the crash.
