VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Members of Kendrick Johnson's family along with the Valdosta community will recognize the one-year anniversary of Johnson's death with a memorial event that will be held Saturday in Valdosta.
The program will begin at 12 p.m. and will include a celebration of Johnson's life.
The event will take place at the John W. Saunders Memorial Park, 1151 River Street, Valdosta, 31601.
The 17-year-old was found dead January 11, 2013 in the Lowndes High gymnasium inside a wrestling mat.

Investigators ruled the teen went into the hole of the mat to retrieve shoes. His body was found a day later.
Since Johnson's death there have been more questions surrounding his death.
