More than 200 sailors who left their families and loved ones back in November, pulled safely into the Mayport Naval Station Monday morning to a waving, cheering, tear-filled crowd of hundreds. They were young and old. Black and white. There were wives, mothers, fathers and brothers waiting with open arms, and hearts filled with love. The first kiss belonged to Amanda Simmons and her two year old Ayonna, welcoming home Husband Henry. In threes and fours the sailors came off the ship, repeating the emotional reunion with loved ones that has become a Navy tradition for generation. It was six months away at sea, helping with the global war on terrorism. Six months of waiting and praying and waiting some more. For this moment in time. For SCG1 Link Rushing, it's about relaxing with loved ones. "Spending time with my family. Being near my wife and kids and enjoying myself. Seeing my dogs!" Sailor David Leight is relishing the fact he won't have to work in the coming days. "Vacation! Time with the family, right love?" said Leight, as he heading off the dock with his wife. During its deployment, the Taylor joined Standing Naval Forces Mediterranean (SNFM) in support of NATO and the global war on terrorism.
