KINGS BAY, Ga. -- The United States Coast Guard Maritime Force Protection Unit Kings Bay will hold a full scale maritime exercise Tuesday.
The exercise is called "resolute guardian."
During the exercise, small boat maneuvers, blank gunfire and distress signal training will take place, according to a news release from the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard is advising local mariners and members of the surrounding to keep a safe distance and to not be alarmed by the training.
The exercise will take place near in the Intracoastal Waterway near Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. The exercise area will extend south to the St. Marys River and out to sea.
The release said the exercise will take place from 9 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary will be passing out flyers and conducting safety patrols at local marinas to inform boaters of the exercise.
If you are a boater and have concerns, you are asked to contact Coast Guard assets on VHF marine radio channel 16.
