WASHINGTON -- The deployment of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg has been delayed.
The USS Gettysburg is stationed at Naval Station Mayport to the U.S. Central Command area of operations.
The Department of Defense cites budget issues as the reason for cancelling the deployment, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the Pentagon.
The USS Gettysburg was slated to leave from Norfolk, Va. for a deployment to the Persian Gulf.
