JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Citing "budget realities," Naval Air Station Jacksonville announced Thursday that it will cancel its 2013 Air Show scheduled for Oct. 26-27.
The cancellation of the show is one of the ways the Navy is making an effort to ensure that those working now, and those training to replace them, are properly supported.
"This is a very tough decision because the people of Jacksonville love their Navy and we sincerely appreciate their support," Capt. Bob Sanders said in a release. "Our air shows are a way to say thank you. But our decision came down to priorities which are operational readiness and supporting the warfighter."
