Ashley is a Jacksonville native. She graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Secondary Education and History. Ashley's middle school World Geography teacher, Ms. Carter, inspired her to be a teacher. She knows that an excellent education is the key to unlocking children's potential.

Ashley substitute taught and worked with English Language Learners in Davidson County, TN. She taught middle school social studies at The Bolles School, an independent school in Jacksonville, for five years. She coached soccer and track.

As a Student Advocate for the Take Stock in Children program at Communities in Schools of Jacksonville, she worked with students and their families, guidance counselors, teachers, principals, community partners and volunteer mentors in 13 Duval County schools. She saw the public school system from all perspectives, most importantly through the eyes of struggling students.
Ashley currently serves as Executive Director of The Chartrand Foundation supporting public education and early childhood initiatives. The Foundation works to improve education through advocacy, policy change and community engagement. Ashley is responsible for oversight, community relations and strategic focus.
Ashley serves on several community boards including Family Support Services, WJCT, the Take Stock in Children Leadership Council and the Women's Giving Alliance Steering Committee. Boards hire the right leader, set strategic vision, establish policy and hold the system accountable.
