PENSACOLA, Fla. -- U.S. Sen. John McCain is urging his fellow veterans to do everything they can to ensure Mitt Romney becomes the nation's next president.
The Vietnam War hero and former Naval aviator spoke to a friendly crowd of about 200 Republican activists and military veterans outside a Pensacola restaurant on Tuesday.
McCain earned his Navy flight wings at nearby Pensacola Naval Air Station and is a popular figure in the town known as "The Cradle of Naval Aviation."
He told supporters that the upcoming election is crucial for both national security and economic prosperity and that Floridians could determine the outcome.
McCain said: "We have to get out the vote on Nov. 6 because this election going to come down to Florida. Whoever takes Florida will be the next president."
