JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Three people were severely injured after a motorist traveled over the median into oncoming traffic on U.S. 17 at Collins Road Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Shanna Winter, 27, was driving a 1999 Hyundai Sonata northbound on U.S. 17 at 12:55 p.m. Friday when she veered over the median and was struck by a 2006 Dodge pickup truck driven by Rachel Clinton, 40, of Middleburg.
The accident critically injured Winter and seriously injured her passenger 35-year-old Taryea Jakes. First responders transported both Winter and Jakes to Orange Park Medical Center. Clinton also suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Vincent's.
