PALATKA, Fla. -- A man has been charged in the 2007 murder of 25-year-old Stephen Richardson.
Daniel Lucas Wilkinson, 24, was issued an indictment for First Degree Murder on Monday in the stabbing death of Richardson.
Richardson, who was a teacher at Interlachen High School, was found dead on July 6, 2007 in his apartment at Barrington Apartments in Palatka, where he was found to have been stabbed multiple times.

The Palatka Police Department discovered the body after Richardson's mother contacted the police to do a welfare check because she had not heard from him since the previous day according to a release from the PPD.
Wilkinson has been a person of interest from the beginning for police investigating the homicide of Richardson, but were constantly searching for new evidence and doing extensive interviews with people that knew both Richardson and Wilkinson.
A grand jury convened on March 11 and issued an indictment for Wilkinson on First Degree Murder. Detectives traveled to Suwanee Correctional Institute in Live Oak to make contact with Wilkinson and at that time, they notified him of the indictment, bringing some closure to the six-year-old cold case.
"Our detectives have worked tirelessly on this case since the beginning. The closing of this event will hopefully provide closure for the family of Mr. Richardson," Police Chief Gary Getchell said in the release.
