The booms from bright Fireworks on the First Coast bring out crowds of thousands.

But getting to the big show can be a hassle!

If you are coming to downtown Jacksonville, road closures start around 7 a.m. Thursday.

The majority of closings will be around The Jacksonville Landing. Hogan Street from Water Street to the St. Johns River is closed. Independent Drive between Hogan and Laura Street is closed and Coastline Drive between Newnan Street and the Landing is closed.

But what about the bridges?

The Main Street Bridge and the Acosta Bridge will close before the show begins at 9:45 p.m. and open up once it is done.

You can park downtown or consider using the Skyway.

Also if you are docking your boat, you can only dock for up to 72 hours and it is on a first come, first serve basis.

The Jacksonville Beach fireworks are back this year! Attendees are urged to use J. Turner Butler Boulevard to leave after the fireworks.  With no stop lights, it will move traffic a lot faster.

State Road A1A will be open, but it will have turn lanes blocked from 10th Ave North to 16 Ave South.

If you are going to St. Augustine for the fireworks over the Matanzas, it draws more people and cars to downtown than another event each year.

So for those relatively close, try riding your bike or carpooling.

Starting at 8:30 p.m. the Bridge of Lions, Avenida Menendez and South Castillo Drive will close.

Parking is available at the Visitors Information Center, which can hold 1,200 cars. There is also surface parking behind the Lightner Building on Granada Street.
