JACKSONVILLE, Fl. -- Potential budget cuts to First Coast School districts has one group asking parents and community residents to pick up the phone and call lawmakers.
Save Duval Schools Inc. is joining with public education advocates from around the state in launching Reach 10 for Education.
A group spokesperson said lawmakers will make their final decisions on schools' budgets in about 10 days. It is asking anyone concerned about cuts at their child's school to make 10 calls to 10 people in the next 10 days.
The nonprofit will detail the announcement Monday at 10:30 a.m. in front of West Riverside Elementary School in Jacksonville.
Reach 10 for Education is an initiative of Save Duval Schools in cooperation with organizations including 50th No More, Fund Education Now, Duval County PTA Council, Florida Gifted Network and others.
School Board Member W.C. Gentry tells First Coast News, "Anything the people do to let the legislature know they value education, is a good thing."
