JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- We've told you about Tyler Southern, a local Marine who was injured by an IED in Afghanistan. So many of you are already helping us give Tyler the wedding and home of his dreams.
Now there's another way you can help Cpl. Southern build his house: the Jacksonville Marine Corps Half Marathon.
A local woman organized Team Tyler, a group that will run the raise to help raise money for the specially modified house that Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit organization, is building for Tyler and his fiance, Ashley.
If you're interested in joining the team, there's a kick-off meeting at Nelson Crew Hair Salon, which is next to Larry's Giant Subs on Southside Boulevard, on Thursday, June 16 from 6:15-7 p.m.
At the meeting, you'll learn about training for the half marathon and you'll also get some fundraising tips.
The race will go through downtown Jacksonville and branch out into Riverside and Avondale on Oct. 1.
