Sex offender Donald Coleman has custody of 4-year-old Miranda Wilkerson
CHARLTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Donald Coleman is at the center of a national media firestorm, over whether he should have custody of 3-year-old Miranda Wilkerson. He spoke exclusively with First Coast News.
Coleman is a registered sex offender. In 1997, he was arrested for being with a 14-year-old girl, who he later married. They had three children together. She had a fourth child, Miranda, with another man.

Miranda's mother has since died, and for the time being, Coleman has custody. He said it's a living arrangement that is working. "She's happy. She asked me the other night, daddy are you glad I've come, I said yes honey, she said me, too."
Coleman said he is fulfilling a promise to his late wife. "All I want is my child. I got her. I promised my wife I would take care of her way before she even got killed."
Coleman says he is going to fight to have permanent custody of Miranda.
"It's my daughter, their sister, period."
Coleman said they are just a family trying to get through life right now.
