JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- We're heading into week three of our training for the 5th annual 26.2 With Donna. This week's running journal features a matrimonial run and a mayoral challenge.
Vickie Bradley kept her word. She turned out for marathon training on her wedding day. No veil, but she's looking pretty good.
"I thought the veil might be a little much," she said with a smile.
Vickie is new to running. She made running the marathon a goal, and she said even her wedding day wouldn't stop her. She did receive a special wedding gift from one of her running partners: a pink interval timer to make sure she stays on pace.
"I feel really good and I'm just so happy to be here," she said.
Also among the 700 runners signed up to train this year is Communications Director for Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown, Abel Harding.
He's training for the half marathon.
"I'm having a blast," Harding said. "This is my first half marathon."
And now we just need to get Mayor Brown out here running.
"You can do it, Mr. Mayor," Harding said.
Consider that an official challenge.
