JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Rescue crews have rescued one boater and now there are questions about whether another person was aboard a boat that capsized in the St. Johns River near downtown Monday evening.

According to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, a boat sank near the Fuller Warren and Acosta bridges. Initial reports said there were two people inside at the time.

So far, rescuers have only located one person, JFRD said. The fire department's marine unit took that person to the dock near the St. Joe's building where JSO said rescuers performed CPR.

The person then was taken to Baptist Hospital in critical condition.

A spokesperson with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said they were told by JSO there was only one person on the boat at the time it flipped over.

JFRD continued its search into the evening in an effort to be sure there was not a second boater, said JFRD spokesperson Tom Francis.
