JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville's unemployment rate sits at 10.4 percent on this Labor Day holiday.

While many enjoy a day off from work, thousands have the day off every day as they look for a job.

Just four years ago, the city's unemployment rate sat at 5.7 percent.

Now, we have a similar rate as Atlanta and a worse rate than other major cities like Washington and Boston.

The Labor Department reports that two of three jobs only require on-the-job training, not a traditional four-year degree.

Of course, jobs with higher pay can come with higher educations.

But some are starting in the workforce and gradually getting that college degree instead of doing it automatically.
