JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A miscalculation means some ducks in Riverside will have to wait about two more weeks to move back home.

Crews hired by the City of Jacksonville are currently working to remove muck and debris from the duck pond in Riverside Park.

Originally, surveyors estimated there were about 1,200 cubic yards of "unsuitable material," according to city officials.

However, after draining the pond, crews discovered around twice that much.

"Once work began and the water was removed, we were able to get a better idea of the amount of material that would need to be removed. While it was more than originally anticipated, all unsuitable material will be removed," a city spokeswoman wrote in a statement Monday.

City officials said this will push the project back by about two weeks, but the company hired to complete the project will remove all of the material.  According to the city, this will not cost taxpayers any additional money.

They expect the project to be complete by the end of September.
