STARKE, Fla. -- The way Starke was all decked out on Friday, it seemed like they were veterans at throwing a party.
But this is the city's first time throwing a Veterans Day celebration.

"Everybody was doing memorials at cemeteries," said organizer Jacquelyn Tortura. "We decided to put the party back in the celebration."
The party was held at the USO and Women's Club in downtown, a building of very historic importance. "We're told this was the first USO in the country, right here in Starke," Tortura said.
