JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville police have taken a man into custody after a SWAT callout.

Police were initially called to a home in the 6300 block of Bluebird Road  in reference to an individual causing a disturbance around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The individual was Randy Brookshire, 59, according to Lt. John Gay of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Brookshire was armed with a box cutter and had barricaded himself inside the home.

SWAT was on the scene negotiating with Brookshire. The neighborhood was partially evacuated for residents' safety, Lt. Laddy Sircar with JSO said earlier on Wednesday.

At some point, according to Gay, gas was introduced to the residence and Brookshire surrendered himself.

Sircar said that police have been called to this area before.
