JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tuesday a jury found a man's ex-girlfriend guilty of trying to kill him during a 2010 shooting.

Shanda Merritt, 36, was found guilty of attempted murder in the first degree and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer Tuesday, according to a news release from State Attorney Angela Corey's office.

Merritt and a co-defendant, Raymond Austin, lured Merritt's ex-boyfriend, Carl Davis, to a Jacksonville parking lot and shot Davis in the chest in 2010, the release said.

Merritt was driving a stolen car at the time of the shooting.  When police tried to pull Merritt over, she refused to stop, according to the release.

The car was later identified as being a rental car registered to 83-year-old Charles Soukup.  Merritt, the release said, is also charged with the kidnapping, murder and armed robbery of Soukup.  In 2010 Soukup was kidnapped from the Jacksonville International Airport.  His body was found near JIA.  There is not a trial date set yet for Merritt to face those charges.

For the charge Merritt has been found guilty of, she could be sentenced to life in prison.  Merritt is scheduled to be sentenced the week of November 19.
