JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Homicide detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said bones found Wednesday are human.
Sergeant Jay Farhat said that determination came from the Medical Examiner's Office.
The bones were found Wednesday in the 12600 block of Braddock Road near I-295 and Dunn Avenue.
Missing persons detectives with JSO were there following up on a lead. Police still have not said what missing persons case the lead is in reference to.
Farhat said detectives investigating the remains found additional bones close to where the first ones were found.
The next step, Farhat said, is to identify the remains and notify the family.
The stretch of Braddock Road where the investigation is taking place will most likely remain closed until at least Friday, Farhat said.
