JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man has been found guilty by a jury of first-degree murder in the death of Charles Soukup, who was kidnapped and murdered in 2010.

Raymond Matthew Austin, Jr. was also found guilty of kidnapping with a firearm and armed robbery, according to a release from the State Attorney's Office. Austin faces life in prison for the murder charge and is set to be sentenced the week of Dec. 17.

Soukup, 83, was kidnapped from the Jacksonville International Airport by Austin and Marquavious Avery, Corey Harrington and Shanda Merritt. They then killed Soukup "for his rental car" and used the car in the attempted murder of Carl Davis, Merritt's ex-boyfriend, according to the release.

Austin was sentenced in August to 45 years in prison in the attempted murder of Davis.

Six people have been arrested in connection with Soukup's death, according to the release.

Rose Daniels and Kandra Harrington, Merritt's daughter, each pleaded guilty to a charge of witness tampering. Daniels is serving two years in prison and Harrington will be sentenced next month.

Merritt's trial in Soukup's death has not yet been set, but she will be sentenced for the attempted murder of Davis next week, according to the release.

Avery and Corey Harrington each pleaded guilty to armed robbery, kidnapping and second degree murder and will be sentenced next month.
