BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. - The 20-year-old driver of a military Humvee died from the injuries he sustained when his vehicle flipped and he was ejected on U.S. Highway 301 Tuesday.

Arandall Ladarrion Shears was involved in a single vehicle crash that occurred near NW 265th St., just north of Lawtey on 301, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The Humvee was traveling northbound and apparently attempted to change lanes and lost control, according to a statement from Florida Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer, Sergeant Dylan L. Bryan. The Humvee went into a grass median and overturned, ejecting the driver, according to Bryan.

Bystanders stopped and began CPR on the Humvee driver until medical personnel arrived, Bryan detailed. The driver was flown to Shands Hospital Gainesville with life threatening injuries, according to Bryan.

The driver of the vehicle is an Army reservist according to, Master Sergeant Thomas Kielbasa, PAO Florida National Guard.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the crash, which has one of the north and southbound lanes of 301 closed. Smith said the outside lanes on both sides are passable.
