Faces of gun violence in Jacksonville

  • Dreshanna Davis was shot to death in her grandmother's home while watching a 'Cat in the Hat' video on June 26, 2006. 29 bullets were sprayed into the house aimed at her uncle.
  • Jeff Mitchell was shot and killed outside Terry Parker High School as he waited outside for his dad to pick him up after a school event on November 4, 1993.
  • Analiza Gobaton, a young mother of three, was killed on October 22, 2010 after she was struck by a stray bullet during a gun battle between drug dealers.
  • Rolisha Thomas was shot to death by her boyfriend on Thanksgiving day, November 22, 2012, as she tried to end their relationship.
  • Kalil McCoy was shot by the person she was riding with on June 21, 2011. Her body was dumped in the woods.
  • Robert Kearney, Jr. was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on March 3, 2009 at the Confederate Point Apartments. Kearney was killed with an AR15 assault riffle.
  • Makia Coney was shot and killed by two of her University Christian classmates near the high school they attended on February 10, 2010.
  • Kristo Binjaku owned a laundromat in 2007. He was shot and killed during a robbery on June 30, 2007.
  • Shenice Holmes was 13-years-old when she was hit by a stray bullet while at home reading a book on May 14, 2006.
  • Donna Mills was asleep in her apartment when she was shot and killed by a stray bullet December 15, 2007.
  • Richard Collier, former Jacksonville Jaguar, was waiting for two women outside an apartment complex on September 1, 2008, when a gunman fired into his vehicle. Colliet lost his leg and was left paralyzed.
  • Mike McCue was planting shrubbery at his home in Jacksonville Beach on February 9, 2011, when he was shot and killed.
  • Helen Walker, night clerk and mother of three, was shot to death by a robber after she gave him the money on October 5, 2004.
  • Tiphne Hollis when shot when, according to police, someone shot the Ed White sophomore while she was riding in a car with her sister and friends on March 20, 2010.
  • Jordan Davis was shot in a dispute over loud music on November 23, 2012. Davis was in a parked car with friends in the parking lot of a Gate gas station.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Many of the reactions to the President's gun control plan object on the grounds that people are the issue, not weapons. But the debate over gun control aside, unfortunately, Jacksonville has many faces of violence on record. Men, women and children whose lives were forever changed.
