Notable personalities and politicians react to the bombings at the Boston Marathon:

"My prayers go out to the people of Boston, and especially to those who were killed or injured in today's attack. As the evidence mounts that this was a terrorist attack, our intelligence and law enforcement agencies must do whatever is necessary to find and interrogate those responsible so we can prevent similar attacks."
-Ga. Sen. Saxby Chambliss via email

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Boston. I've asked the Florida Division of Emergency Management to be on standby to provide any assistance needed to help first responders on the ground in Boston. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement also stands ready to provide any support services needed. As a husband, father and grandfather, today's events remind us all of how fragile life is and how important it is for us to keep our communities safe. Tonight, our state stands in support of all those impacted by the Boston bombings. We hope those responsible are swiftly brought to justice - and peace and safety is quickly restored."
-Fla. Gov. Rick Scott via Twitter

"Make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this, we will find out who did this and why they did this."
-President Barack Obama

"Sandra and I give our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the Boston Marathon explosions. "
-Ga. Gov. Nathan Deal via Twitter

"Our thoughts and prayers are with those in and around the Marathon."
-Fla. Rep. Corrine Brown via Twitter

"Praying for everyone in Boston affected by this terrible tragedy."
-Ga. Sen. Johnny Isakson

"My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and first responders in Boston."
-Fla. Rep. Ron DeSantis

"My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of today's bombing at the Boston Marathon, the brave first responders who rushed to the scene to help others and the entire city of Boston.  For decades, the Boston Marathon has brought together people from all over the world in the pursuit of athletic excellence, a sense of accomplishment and to raise money for many worthy causes.  I am disturbed and saddened that anyone would ruin this day of celebration by targeting innocent people and murdering them in cold blood.  Once it is determined who is responsible, justice must be served to the fullest extent possible."
-Fla. Sen. Marco Rubio

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and the people of Boston. I have directed our emergency management team to coordinate with federal and state authorities to actively monitor and assess the situation in Boston.  We had already engaged public safety agencies to ensure a safe One Spark experience, and I have ordered our team to review those preparations and make any enhancements necessary to protect the safety of all involved."
-Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown
