ORLANDO, Fla. -The Florida Highway Patrol arrested one motorist and is searching for another Sunday after a fatal pedestrian crash.
Authorities said the crash happened near the intersection of South Orange Blossom Trail and 39th Street about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
The unidentified pedestrian was crossing South Orange Blossom Trail, but she was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection.
Investigators said the first vehicle to hit the woman was driven by Eduardo Grinaire Vicente, 49. They said Vicente stopped and got out of his vehicle before leaving the scene of the crash.
A driver from Maryland also witnessed the crash and stopped. The driver opened her door to help the victim, but investigators said a Ford Taurus struck the open door of that car, struck the pedestrian a second time and fled.
Troopers are searching for the Taurus and the woman who was driving it.
A third vehicle driven by Yasmani Fonseca, 23, of Orlando, also hit the pedestrian.
The Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information about the Taurus or its driver to contact them or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
