JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After spending reportedly nearly $300 million on an English soccer team, Shad Khan rolled out the red carpet on the First Coast on Friday.
The Jacksonville Jaguars owner welcomed representatives from the Fulham Football Club to EverBank Field.
The Fulham Football Club, currently on tour in Costa Rica, introduced the CEO, Alistair Mackintosh, manager, Martin Jol, and team captain, Brede Hangeland during the informal interview and photo opportunity in the Upper West Touchdown Club.
Khan bought the Fulham Football Club 100 percent, debt-free ownership of the team on July 12. His purchase of the team will mean that six of the 20 teams in the English Premier League will be owned by Americans.
Local soccer fans in Jacksonville are hoping that Fulham plays an
occasional exhibition game at EverBank Field during the course of Khan's
ownership of both teams.
