LARGO, Fla. -- Eric Norrie is confined to a Miami hospital bed because he is missing a chunk of his leg.
"I felt this shark grab my leg, and the ripping sound, and when I turned around the water was filled with blood. It looked like a Jaws movie," said Norrie.
Norrie was spearfishing in the Bahamas when the 6-foot shark attacked.
"I got a look at him when he swam away with a piece of my leg in his mouth," said Norrie.
Norrie knows he's lucky, because it could have been worse, but he knows better than to be careless in the water. You can find YouTube video that show he's an avid fisherman and sharks are always a concern.
"Generally, if you see them coming, you hit them away, but this time I didn't even see him," said Norrie.
Norrie was able to get back to the boat and make a tourniquet to slow the bleeding. Once at the hospital, doctors stitched him up, but there will be plenty of rehab, and a lesson learned for next time.
"I'll look around more."
