COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A man suspected of multiple convenience store burglaries has been arrested.

Larry Leon Simpson, 35, is accused of burglarizing the Spring Food Store on June 16, before allegedly hitting four more stores in July and early August, according to a release from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives said another burglary on August 21 at a Fast Track Store where Simpson was identified as the suspect allowed them to secure a search warrant for Simpson's home.

Simpson was not home at the time of the search, but detectives allegedly found evidence inside the house linking Simpson to the various burglaries.

Two days later, detectives got information about where Simpson had been hiding but investigators said Simpson ran out the back door into the woods when they tried to surround the location to arrest him.

Simpson was arrested after being Tased following a brief foot chase.

Simpson is facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, probation violation, trespassing, criminal mischief and resisting an officer. Simpson is currently being held without bail in the Columbia County Jail.
