TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida's unemployment rate is now 7 percent.
The state of Florida released new numbers on Friday showing that the state's unemployment rate dropped .1 percent in August.
There are now an estimated 656,000 people out of work in the state.
Gov. Rick Scott has used the state's dropping unemployment rate as part of his re-election pitch for next year.
The central Florida unemployment rate for the Workforce Central Florida region is down 2 percent from a year ago to 6.6 percent.
