JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on I-95 near St. Augustine Saturday.
Joe Clifford Lewis Jr. was seriously injuried and was taken to UF Health Jacksonville.
Lewis, 44, was driving a Toyota Camry involved in the crash that included two tractor-trailer trucks around 5 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The two trucks and the car were northbound on I-95 when Juan Torres' truck swerved in an attempt to avoid the second truck, but struck the rear of Lewis' vehicle, according to FHP.
The car then struck the rear of the trailer on Torres' truck, according to FHP.
Juan Torres sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Torres, 51, was taken to Flagler Hospital. The Kissimmee resident was driving one of the trucks. The other truck driver, Livan Dorrego, 30, of Omaha, Neb., and his passenger, Miguel A. Cardenas-Santana, 28, of Homestead, were not injured, according to FHP.
