Those who were hoping to watch rising film star Shia LaBeouf (Transformers, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) make his Broadway debut this spring will have to wait at least a little longer.
LaBeouf was to have appeared in a new production of the Lyle Kessler play Orphans, opposite Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge, set to begin previews March 19 and open April 7. But producers issued a statement Wednesday acknowledging that they would be "parting ways" with LaBeouf, due to unspecified "creative differences."
LaBeouf had been cast as Treat, one of two brothers who kidnap a wealthy, suspicious older man, Baldwin's role. The announcement specified that a replacement for the part of Treat would be made shortly, and that there were no plans as of now to change the production schedule.
