KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- An Osceola County man is accused of using a romantic ruse to steal from women.
Investigators said Scott Campbell convinced women he met on dating websites to give him hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Campbell developed an investing scheme, according to investigators, that included a talent search similar to "American Idol."
Investigators said he convinced women to invest in his music business "Bank Deposits Only Records." He even included photos of himself with Ludacris, Anthony Hamilton and Wendy Williams.
Detectives said the money given to Campbell wasn't used to find talent. They said it fueled his gambling habit.
Online experts say do your homework before giving anyone your money.
"If you are smart enough to get on an Internet dating site you are smart enough to look somebody up," said Ruth Keith.
A search on the Better Business Bureau website shows "BDO Records" has an F-rating.
Campbell was arrested in Flagler County, but will be taken to Osceola County.
Investigators believe Campbell was living in a Kissimmee home with friends.
