Sweatshirts, ball caps, t-shirts--the University of Tennessee Campus store is jammed packed with big orange items. If loyalty to your favorite team doesn't draw you in, maybe your nose will.
UT men's and women's fragrances are now being sold in the store, as part of a new collegiate line created by Penn State alum Katie Masich.
"I was a bit taken aback--you don't equate fragrances with collegiate license products," UT Licensing Director Mike Keener says.
But, Masik Collegiate Fragrances made a good pitch to the University of Tennessee, convincing them to join the team of at least 10 other universities and colleges around the country, all now with their own fragrances.
"They really researched our university and its traditions, from its color scheme to the hill, just the history of the Volunteers," Keener says. "In my opinion, it rivals a lot of your higher end fragrances that are out there. It's a really nice smelling product, and we're very pleased with it."
The UT Women's perfume has a citrus smell. The scent is created by combining juicy tangerine with lotus blossom, magnolia, and other notes.
The UT Men's cologne has a musk smell, with crisp ozone, ginger, and cassis notes.
"My wife has worn the perfume, and I've worn the cologne," Keener says. "It smells good."
Keener says he and his wife receive compliments when they wear the fragrances. So far, the new fragrance line smells like a victory, with high hopes that the signature scents will score big with UT students.
You can purchase the UT men's and women's fragrances at Coachman Clothiers, Inc., University of Tennessee Bookstore, McMillin's-West Location, McMillin's Campus Location, and Lawson's Department Store.
