STEUBENVILLE, OH -- The attorney for the accused Steubenville teen is speaking out about the alleged rape.
Two high school football players are accused of raping a 16-year-old girl last summer. Video and pictures of the alleged incident are making their rounds on the internet.
In an interview with CNN, the attorney for accused teen Ma'lik Richmond answered questions about the case. During the questioning, he identified one of the teens in the picture as his client.
He then went on to say the girl being carried by her arms and legs in the photo was seemingly unconscious and the picture is taken out of context.
Attorney General Mike DeWine expressed concern that this case will play out in the media before going through the justice system.
"I think that we need to confine this case to the courtroom, the evidence will come out," DeWine said.
The alleged incident took place back in August and only came into the national spotlight is because of the activist hacker group "Anonymous."
On Dec. 23, the group threatened to release the video and information on the football players unless a public apology was made by Jan. 1.
When no apology came, "Anonymous" posted both the picture and video online.
