JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An asteroid about half the size of a football field will wiz by the earth Friday, about 17,200 miles away.
Scientists at Jacksonville's Museum of Science and History say between the Russian meteor that's already injured more than 11,000 and this asteroid, their phones have been ringing off the hook.
"Well we are here to calm people's fears," said Thomas Webber, Director of the Bryan Gooding Planetarium at MOSH.
"We just help sort through all the facts," he said.
Webber added that during events like this, public interest picks up and more folks pass through his branch of the museum.
"We believe there will be a lot of interest this weekend," he said, "We can anticipate that."
