Authorities in a Maryland suburb of Washington say an off-duty city police officer has been killed in what may have been a "domestic-related homicide."
Prince George's County police Cpl. Maria McKinney said officers responded to a call about the shooting at 8:13 p.m. Monday in Upper Marlboro. She said "the victim was identified as an adult male who was shot and killed by a family member."
She said the victim, whose name has not been released, was a member of the District of Columbia police department.
The Washington Post reported, citing local police, that an earlier barricade erected near the home was being dismantled. The police think the suspect may have fled the area.
