CLEVELAND, Oh. -- FBI agents Monday searched the west side home of Ariel Castro.
It comes as Castro is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to answer charges of aggravated murder, kidnapping and rape that were laid out last week in a 329-count grand jury indictment.
A FBI spokeswoman called it a routine check of the crime scene performed at the request of Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty in anticipation of going to trial.
Joe Frolik, a spokesman for Prosecutor Tim McGinty, said it was part of the ongoing investigation.
Six investigators spent about a half-hour at Castro's two-story home on Seymour Avenue, where three women and a young girl were rescued last month.
The investigators scoured the cluttered back yard of the home before going inside. They were not carrying anything as they left the home and got into two vehicles.
