NORWALK, Ct. -- Cranbury Elementary School in Norwalk was in lockdown as a precaution this morning after one teacher reported hearing gunshots outside, according to police.
At 11:25 a.m., police received a report from a teacher inside Cranbury School reporting what they believed might have been gunshots from outside the school.
The school was placed in lockdown as a precaution as officers responded.
Two officers were in the immediate vicinity and did not find anything suspicious, police said.
Officers checked the area, as well as at Cranbury Park, and there were no other reports of shots received.
Officers continued to check the surrounding areas, including the trails in Cranbury Park, and nothing was located.
Police have not identified the source of the noise, but said construction is happening nearby, so police are looking at that.
