JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jen Stemack understands the challenges of living in a "two-handed world" because she was born missing one hand.
When she heard about our project to help Tyler Southern, she wanted to help right away.
Stemack actually has two reasons to help.
She also went to Mandarin High School, the same local school where Tyler was in ROTC several years ago.
Tyler joined the Marines and went to Afghanistan, until last year when he stepped on an IED behind a building. The explosion almost killed him; in fact, he said he was pronounced dead twice, once in Afghanistan and again on a U.S. military base in Germany.
Now Tyler is a triple amputee.
He's getting married to his fellow ROTC member from Mandarin High, Ashley Statti. Their wedding will be on a July afternoon in Mandarin. So it could be hot.
But Stemack works for "Twice the Ice" and she rallied her company to give a generous donation of ice and gift cards to Operation Thumbs Up for Tyler's wedding.
She said Tyler should be encouraged. She's learned to braid her hair and take care of many other details in life.
