JACKSONVILLE, FL -- You can't help but cheer on Tyler Southern. Here's a young man in his early 20's who has lost two legs and an arm, and yet he's tackling every intense step in rehab he can.
Tyler's key goal now is to practice walking more on his new prosthetic legs. He's back at Walter Reed in Washington. He wants to walk down a long dock, his wedding aisle, in Mandarin on July 9th with his bride.
Meanwhile, he's learning to use his muscles in his residual limb to control new prosthetic hands.
Watch the video story to see how he does it. You'll see the movements with certain muscles must be quite precise. It takes practice and patience and an attitude that's more than 1000%.
Operation Thumbs Up is First Coast News project to help throw Tyler a wedding and build him a new home.
