JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It's a big day for Tyler Southern, the marine from Jacksonville who so many have followed through Operation Thumbs Up.

His new home in St. Johns County is finished and he'll get to see it for the first time.

When First Coast News told the community about the non-profit Homes For Our Troops coming to town to build the new home, volunteers poured in to help.  So many volunteered that groups had to be turned away.

Tyler is a marine from Jacksonville who stepped on an IED in Afghanistan last year.  He lost both legs and an arm.

The construction began on a hot, hot day in July. Tyler got to help put up the first wall and within a day the roof was already starting to appear.

Dream Finders, a local general contracting group, volunteered to manage the project and contribute financially after the managers saw the story on First Coast News.

Now, as a triple amputee, Tyler's spirit soars beyond what anybody could imagine. He truly lifts up people around him.

Tonight at 6 p.m. you'll get to see Tyler and his bride, Ashley, walk into their new home for the first time.
